Having trouble getting to sleep at night? There’s a simple breathing technique that can put even the worst insomniacs to sleep instantly! Here’s all you have to do:
“Simply breathe in squares.” By that I mean pausing to hold your breath both at the end of your inhale and your exhale. The pauses should be the same length of time that you use to breathe.
For example, inhale (expanding your abdomen in the process) over a two-second period, then hold your breath for a two-second pause before you begin to exhale. The exhale (sucking in your abdomen) over a two-second interval. At the end of your exhale pause for two seconds before you begin the next breath. If you inhale over a three-second count, then just make sure that the other intervals are three seconds long.
Keep repeating this process for each and every breath. It’s as simple as that! You can count the seconds to yourself as you go along, but after a while, you will probably find that you are able to naturally keep the intervals the same without counting.
Remember to breath only with you abdomen. Keep your chest free of movement. Before you know it, you’ll be sleeping.
